Kagome Higurashi redesign
Just a little redesign of Kagome Higurashi from “Inuyasha”! Plus a bonus Kikyo! In my fan version of “Inuyasha” Kagome is a black Japanese girl struggling to see herself reflected in her Japanese heritage. When she travels back in time, she is surprised to learn about her strange connection to the Shikon Jewel and more surprised to discover people who look like her living happily in feudal Japan!
1. My first attempt at this redesign was back in 2019.
2. This year (2021), I decided to take another crack at it. Starting with my references: I used some actual uniforms as well as fan art for inspo.
3. I made a few school uniform variations, but none of them satisfied me.
4. Inventing some classmates for her helped me think about how kids would personalize their uniforms.
5. I picked a color palette for each kid and finalized their school designs!
6. Minimal changes made to Kikyo. I just wanted to emphasize the *undead* part of her character.
